Breast reduction
Back pain, tension, bra straps that dig in, limits on exercise: breasts that are too large can be a daily burden. A breast reduction takes weight off your shoulders and at the same time shapes a smaller, firmer and harmonious breast.

What a breast reduction achieves
In a breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) excess glandular tissue, fat and skin are removed, the breast is reshaped and lifted, and the nipple is moved higher if necessary. The operation takes two to three hours under general anaesthetic.
The aim is not only less volume but breasts that feel natural, suit your body and relieve discomfort for the long term – with scars as fine as possible and balanced sides.
Individually planned
How much volume is removed, which incision technique suits and whether an additional lift makes sense are decided together at the consultation – with symmetry and proportions in mind.

Techniques and scars
Which technique suits depends on how much tissue is to be removed. The aim is fine, inconspicuous scars that fade over time.

The procedure in three steps
- Consultation and planning
Analysis of breast shape and complaints, desired volume, incision technique, realistic expectations.
Then a health check, blood tests and anaesthesia briefing.
- The operation
Under general anaesthetic tissue is removed, the breast shaped, the nipple repositioned if necessary and the incisions finely closed. You then receive a support bra.
- Healing and aftercare
One night in the clinic with round-the-clock care, pain relief, scar care and regular check-ups.
Nipple and sensation
Fine nerve structures are spared as far as possible; if the nipple needs repositioning, this is done with care for its nerve supply. Most patients report that sensation stays the same or returns to normal within a few months. Rarely it may change temporarily or permanently – we discuss this in detail at the consultation.

Frequently asked questions about breast reduction
How long does a breast reduction take?
Usually two to three hours under general anaesthetic, depending on the starting point and the desired size. You then stay one night in the clinic.
What scars result?
With the lollipop incision (vertical technique) there is a scar around the areola and vertically below it; with the anchor or T incision an additional scar in the inframammary fold. Which technique suits depends on the extent of the reduction.
Will nipple sensation be preserved?
Most patients report that sensation stays the same or returns to normal within a few months. In rare cases it may change temporarily or permanently.
When will I be back to normal?
Light activities after one to two weeks, sport and physically demanding work after four to six weeks. The final result shows after three to six months.
Will the breasts also be lifted?
Yes. A breast reduction removes glandular tissue, fat and skin and lifts the breast at the same time; the nipple is moved higher if necessary.
Can I breastfeed afterwards?
After a reduction the milk supply may be lower because glandular tissue is removed. If your family planning is not complete, raise it at the consultation.
Can differences between the sides be corrected?
Yes. The reduction is planned separately for each side so that both breasts match in size and height.
How much does a breast reduction cost?
At the Kuzbari Centre from €6,000, including consultation, surgery, the night in the clinic and all aftercare appointments.
