Redness and thread veins, especially on the face, are among the most common and most unpleasant skin conditions in adulthood. They are often called rosacea or couperose and are readily confused.
In our dermatological consultation we analyse your skin and show you ways to a successful treatment.
Rosacea
The skin condition rosacea is an inflammatory, chronic disease of the facial skin. It runs in flare-ups. It begins with dilated blood vessels and redness on the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. In a second phase inflammation arises and small red nodules form, or at times small pustular nodules too. In a third phase the skin is already severely inflamed, thickened and very large-pored. In men above all, the proliferation of the sebaceous glands leads to the formation of what is known as a bulbous nose.
Not all patients go through all three phases. Many stop at the second stage. Incidentally, women are affected more often than men, and fair-skinned people more often than dark-skinned people. An accompanying condition or consequence of rosacea is couperose.
Couperose
With couperose fine veins usually shimmer bluish-red through the skin. This occurs mostly on the face and is immediately visible. Couperose shows most clearly on the cheeks and around the nose.
Forms of treatment.
After a detailed medical analysis by our specialists in dermatology, a suitable therapy is carried out. With special active substances, inflammation is first contained and the skin calmed. Particularly troublesome thread veins can be removed with an IPL flashlight therapy. All therapies are pre-treated and post-treated with special, medical creams.
Red IPL
With the help of our IPL flashlight technology, thread veins are treated successfully. The flashlight is directed into the blood vessels to be treated. Blood contains haemoglobin, which absorbs the light and converts it into heat. The small veins are thereby destroyed and gradually disappear in a safe way.
