Pigmentation spots occur in quite different colours and shapes. Some appear in particular seasons. Others accompany us all our lives. Some bother us because they give away our true age. Others again are extremely dangerous.

Freckles are small, light brown spots. They occur especially in blond and red-haired people. They mostly become stronger through increased sunlight in summer and fade in winter. This skin disease, also known as melanoma, is a malignant tumour. Recognised in time, it can be successfully removed surgically. Any suspicion should be clarified by a dermatologist as quickly as possible. In addition, a dermatological preventive check once a year is advisable.

In everyday language people speak of a strawberry mark, doctors of a haemangioma. Both, however, mean the same thing: an accumulation of vascular tissue on the face or the body. The red marks look dramatic above all on the face and can certainly affect self-confidence. The marks look disconcerting but are mostly harmless.
