How the knees and calves are treated
Liposuction of the knee and lower legs permanently removes the fat deposits on the inside above the knee, on the calf and in the ankle area, and shapes a calmer leg line.
First a tumescent solution is introduced, which numbs the tissue and keeps bleeding to a minimum. Fine cannulas then loosen the fat and remove it through access points just a few millimetres in size. On the legs the overall picture decides: thighs, knees and calves have to match each other. That is why we plan the legs while you are standing and from all sides. VASER and Renuvion are included in the price where they are useful.

Strong calves or lipoedema?

The process in five steps

Analysis of the areas, assessment of skin and connective tissue, treatment plan and written quote.
- Pre-op talk and safety check
Surgical plan, instructions, anaesthesia consultation and blood test. The results form the basis for clearance for surgery.
- Marking and surgery
Around ten minutes of marking while standing, then surgery in our own theatre suite, for as long as it takes to get the result right.
- Going home and recovering
Usually home the same day, one night with us after larger procedures. Showering from the first day, desk work after two to four days.
- Compression, check-ups, result
Compression garment for two to six weeks, exercise from two weeks depending on the area. The final result shows after three to six months.

When we advise against it
- You want to lose more than 20 kg. Liposuction is no substitute for weight loss; it shapes the areas that diet and exercise cannot reach.
- Your weight is not yet stable. If you are still planning to lose a lot of weight, we wait until your weight has been stable for months.
- Your health does not allow it. We clarify pre-existing conditions with you beforehand, together with your GP if necessary.

Frequently asked questions about liposuction of the knees and calves
Is liposuction of the knees and calves painful?
The treatment is performed under twilight sedation or local anaesthesia, and there is no pain during the procedure. Afterwards the legs feel like strong muscle soreness for a few days.
How long does the operation take?
That depends on the number of areas; there is no fixed time. Because we have our own operating theatres, we operate without time pressure until the result is right.
When can I go back to work?
Desk work is usually possible after two to four days, and most people are socially presentable after about two days.
When can I exercise again?
Light activity such as walking is encouraged from the start. You can begin exercising from two weeks and build up gradually.
Can the fat come back?
The treated fat cells are removed permanently. If you gain weight, the remaining fat cells can grow in volume; a stable weight supports the result.
When will I see the final result?
A change is visible straight away but masked by swelling. The final result shows after three to six months; lymphatic drainage helps reduce swelling in the legs more quickly.
