Why isolated procedures are often not enough

Facial ageing is multifactorial

There are many reasons why we perceive a face as ‘old’.  In the face the soft tissue sinks, fatty tissue and bony structures lose volume, and the quality of the skin changes. On the neck the skin and muscles slacken and the contour bulges forward as with a double chin. The eyelids show age-related changes such as hooded eyelids and what are known as eye bags. The eyebrows sink. The upper lip becomes longer. The corners of the mouth droop.

A clear jawline and a harmonious transition to the neck are central features of a youthful appearance. That is why a facelift is frequently combined with a tightening of the soft tissue of the neck.

Modern neck lift concepts

Depending on the findings, a lateral tightening of the skin and the platysma together with the facelift can be enough. With more pronounced changes an open neck lift is necessary, in which deeper structures are corrected in a targeted way as well. The aim is always a clear, natural neck and chin contour

Facelift & eyelids – why the eyes play a key role

The eye region gives away your age particularly early

Slackened upper eyelids, what are known as eye bags, or a tired gaze can continue to dominate even after a successful facelift. If the eye region is not taken into account, an imbalance quickly arises between a rejuvenated face and an aged eye area.

Blepharoplasty as a sensible addition

An upper and/or lower eyelid lift can be carried out either at the same time or in a separate procedure. The aim is not a change of character but a fresh, alert eye area that suits the rest of the face.

When does the combination make sense?

Lower eyelid lift

Eye bags and slackened lower eyelid skin make the face look older than you feel. Through age-related slackening of the tissue, orbital fat bulges forward while the skin loses elasticity. Our lower eyelid lift corrects excess skin and bulging fat, often a combination of both, for a smooth, youthful appearance. This procedure harmonises perfectly with other methods to rejuvenate your eye area.

Facelift & fat transfer – repositioning alone is often not enough

Sagging and loss of volume go hand in hand

While the facelift returns sagging tissue to its original place, an age-related loss of volume frequently remains. In the mid-face, at the temples or in the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek in particular, this can limit the result.

Fat transfer as an integral part of modern concepts

A targeted fat transfer complements the facelift by restoring lost volume where it is necessary for restoring a younger appearance. The patient’s autologous fat is prepared and placed precisely – with the aim not of ‘filling up’ but of making structures appear balanced again.
