How the back is treated
Liposuction of the back removes fat deposits on the upper and lower back and along the bra line through access points just a few millimetres in size, permanently, because the body no longer forms new fat cells after puberty.
First a tumescent solution is introduced, which numbs the tissue and keeps bleeding to a minimum. Fine cannulas then loosen the fat and remove it. On the back the fat is often firm and fibrous; which technique is added depends on the findings, and it is included in the price.

The back is rarely treated on its own: its contour merges seamlessly into the flanks. The most harmonious line usually results when the abdomen, flanks and back are shaped all round in one procedure.

The process in five steps
Consultation, preparation, surgery and aftercare all take place in the same building. If you wish, surgery can usually take place just a few weeks after the consultation. In the video Dr. Saalabian explains what happens once you decide on surgery, from the pre-op talk to recovery.

Analysis of the areas, assessment of skin and connective tissue, treatment plan and written quote.
- Pre-op talk and safety check
Surgical plan, instructions, anaesthesia consultation and blood test. The results form the basis for clearance for surgery.
- Marking and surgery
Around ten minutes of marking while standing, then surgery in our own theatre suite, for as long as it takes to get the result right.
- Going home and recovering
Usually home the same day, one night with us after larger procedures. Showering from the first day, desk work after two to four days.
- Compression, check-ups, result
Compression garment for two to six weeks, exercise from two weeks. All follow-up appointments are included. The final result shows after three to six months.

When we advise against it
- You want to lose more than 20 kg. Liposuction is no substitute for weight loss; it shapes the areas that diet and exercise cannot reach.
- Your weight is not yet stable. If you are still planning to lose a lot of weight, we wait until your weight has been stable for months.
- Your health does not allow it. We clarify pre-existing conditions with you beforehand, together with your GP if necessary.

What are “back rolls”?
That is the name for fat rolls on the back, usually below and beside the bra band. They also occur in slim people and barely respond to exercise and diet; liposuction removes them permanently.
Is liposuction of the back painful?
The procedure is performed under twilight sedation or local anaesthesia and is painless. Afterwards the back feels like strong muscle soreness for a few days.
How long does the operation take?
That depends on whether only the back or also the flanks and abdomen are treated. There is no fixed time: we operate without time pressure until the result is right.
Do I have to stay overnight at the Kuzbari Centre?
Usually not: liposuction is generally an outpatient procedure. For larger amounts, from about four litres, we recommend one night with us.
When can I go back to work?
Desk work is usually possible after two to four days, and most people are socially presentable after about two days. The compression garment can be worn under your clothes.
When can I exercise again?
Light activity such as walking is encouraged from the start. You can begin exercising from two weeks and build up gradually.
Should the flanks be treated too?
Often yes: on the back the contour merges seamlessly into the flanks, and if only one side is treated, a step remains. Whether a 360° torso makes sense we clarify at the first consultation.
Will there be scars?
The access points are a few millimetres in size and placed discreetly. Once healed they are barely visible.
