What is liposuction?
Liposuction is an operation in which fat cells directly beneath the skin are removed with fine cannulas through access points a few millimetres in size — with the aim of shaping the body’s contour, not reducing weight.
It is the most frequently performed procedure in aesthetic surgery and, thanks to its effectiveness and precision, is regarded as the gold standard of fat reduction. Because the body forms no new fat cells after puberty, the result is permanent: what has been removed does not come back.
At the Kuzbari Centre fat is not simply suctioned off, it is sculpted. Bra rolls become a smooth back line, the hip pad above the waistband becomes a waist. Dr. Ali Saalabian has refined HD liposuction for this purpose, in which light, shadow and proportions are planned deliberately.

Who is liposuction suitable for?
The best candidates are people with a normal or slightly raised, stable weight who have localised fat deposits, elastic skin and good general health.
Sometimes we advise postponing the procedure — until planned weight loss is complete or an illness has been treated. If the skin is not elastic enough, a lift or a combination may be the answer. We check this at the first consultation, not afterwards.
Which areas can be treated
Almost any part of the body can be treated. Most common are the abdomen and flanks, followed by the thighs. Less discussed areas such as the knees, calves, back, upper arms or the male chest are everyday work at the Kuzbari Centre too.
The methods
Everything starts with tumescence: a solution numbs the tissue and constricts the blood vessels, keeping bleeding and bruising low. The fat is then removed — supported by vibration, ultrasound or plasma, depending on the findings. Your surgeon chooses the technique according to the findings, not the price: VASER and Renuvion are included where they make sense.

Is the result permanent?
Yes: the fat cells removed do not grow back. If you gain weight later, only the remaining cells grow — which is why the new shape lasts as long as your weight stays roughly stable.
Liposuction is not a treatment for cellulite. Some patients nevertheless report that it has visibly decreased on their thighs.

Consultation, preparation, surgery and aftercare all take place in the same building. If you wish, surgery can usually take place just a few weeks after the consultation.

Safety under one roof
The greatest possible safety comes from an experienced team, modern technology and enough time. At the Kuzbari Centre specialists operate in three in-house theatres; because the theatres are ours, there is no time pressure. In case of a power cut in the city, the building has its own emergency generator.
- No blood-thinning medication for two weeks before surgery without consulting us.
- Stop smoking if possible in the weeks before and after.
- Arrange for someone to take you home.
- Bring comfortable clothes that fit over the compression garment.
How much does liposuction cost in Vienna?
At the Kuzbari Centre, liposuction costs between €1,400 (axillary fat) and €16,500 (lipoedema of the thighs) depending on the area; a typical area such as the abdomen or flanks is €4,600 – 7,900.
Combinations cost less than the sum of their areas, because preparation, anaesthesia and aftercare are needed only once. You receive the fixed price in writing after the first consultation. The first consultation takes around 40 minutes and costs €90; if you decide to go ahead with surgery, the amount is credited in full.

Which areas of the body are suitable for liposuction?
Almost any area: most often the abdomen, flanks and thighs, as well as the neck and double chin, upper arms, back, knees, calves, buttocks and the male chest.
Is liposuction painful?
The procedure itself is painless thanks to twilight sedation or local anaesthesia. Afterwards it feels like strong muscle soreness for a few days.
What kind of anaesthesia is used?
Most liposuction is performed under twilight sedation, smaller procedures under local anaesthesia too. The anaesthesia consultation takes place in-house before the operation.
How long does the operation take?
That depends on the area and the extent; there is no fixed time. Because we have our own operating theatres, we operate without time pressure until the result is right.
Do I have to stay overnight?
Usually not: liposuction is an outpatient procedure. For more than about four litres we recommend a night on our ward.
How much fat can be removed?
As an outpatient procedure, three to four litres are possible safely and well in people in good general health. What matters, though, is not the amount but the shape — liposuction is not a way to lose weight.
When will I be back to everyday life and work?
Most people are socially presentable after about two days, and desk work is possible after two to four days. You can shower from the first day, but not take a bath for three weeks.
How long do I have to wear compression?
You wear the compression garment day and night for two to six weeks. Two garments are included in the price.
When can I exercise again?
Walking is encouraged from the start. You begin exercising from two weeks, depending on the area and build up gradually.
Will there be scars?
The access points are a few millimetres in size and placed in discreet spots. Once healed they are barely visible.
Will the fat come back?
The fat cells removed do not regrow. With major weight gain the remaining cells can grow; with a stable weight the shape lasts.
How much does liposuction cost?
Between €1,400 and €16,500 depending on the area; the abdomen or flanks cost €4,600 to €7,900. You receive the fixed price after the first consultation, and payment in instalments over up to 60 months is possible.
