The day of your breast surgery step by step
On the day of your breast surgery you come to the Kuzbari Centre in the morning, are operated on under general anaesthesia in our own theatre, spend one night on the ward and go home the next morning. This page shows every step so that you know what to expect.
- Our own operating theatres
- General anaesthesia
- Compression bra
- One night, ward round next morning
From check-in to going home
A day and a night at the Kuzbari Centre — this is how they are spent.
-
In the morningArriving at the Kuzbari Centre
On foot, by public transport or by car: you already know the centre at Seitzergasse 2-4 in the Goldenes Quartier from your consultation. All appointments — from the first meeting through the operation to the follow-up — take place here under one roof.
-
ArrivalCheck-in on the ward
Reception welcomes you and accompanies you to the ward. A nurse shows you to your room, you change, and we take your blood pressure, pulse and temperature. You choose dinner and breakfast from the Park Hyatt Vienna menu.
-
Before surgeryAnaesthesia and marking
In the recovery room, the monitoring unit before and after surgery, you speak to your anaesthetist once more. Then Dr. Dobrovits or Dr. Draxler marks your breasts while you stand — the most important step of the planning — and goes through the procedure with you. Most patients find this reassuring.
-
The operationIn our own theatre
The theatre assistant takes you into the operating room and your anaesthetist starts the general anaesthetic. You will not notice anything of the operation. A breast augmentation usually takes about an hour; lifts and corrections take longer depending on the findings.
- After surgery
Compression bra and recovery room
At the end of the operation we put on a compression bra to protect your breasts. Once you are awake you are monitored in the recovery room for about another hour and then taken to your room.
-
In the eveningYour room and the first night
As soon as you feel fit enough you get up for the first time with the ward nurse; from then on you may receive visitors. During the first night the nursing staff and the anaesthetist on duty are there for you around the clock, and if you are in pain you receive pain relief tailored to you.
- 07:00 to 08:00
Ward round next morning
Your surgeon comes on the ward round, opens the bra and you see your new breasts for the first time. You receive the most important rules for the next few days, painkillers and — if needed — further medication for home.
- 08:00 to 10:00
Breakfast and going home
After a generous breakfast you leave the centre with the person accompanying you. The first check-up has already been arranged and is confirmed with you once more.
A new outlook
For many patients, their new breasts quite literally mark the start of a new life. We are there for you afterwards too.

Preparing at home
The most important preparation starts days before surgery: no blood-thinning medication, avoid smoking where possible, arrive with an empty stomach. What exactly applies to you is discussed in the pre-op talk.
The best preparation for the big day
How long the operation takes
A breast augmentation usually takes about an hour. The honest answer, though, is: as long as it takes. It is not about the shortest operating time but about the best result — you will live with your new breasts for the rest of your life.
This is possible because the Kuzbari Centre has its own operating theatres. No outside hospital sets the pace; we take the time your desired result needs.
What to bring
You need very little for one night at the centre. These things make the day more comfortable:
- Comfortable clothing that opens at the front — pulling things over your head is awkward after surgery.
- Your list of medication and the documents from the pre-op talk.
- No make-up, jewellery or nail varnish.
- Someone to collect you the next morning.
Everything under one roof
Consultation, surgery, overnight stay and aftercare take place in the same rooms — with the same people. No outside hospital, no unfamiliar staff.

When do I need to be at the centre?
You receive the exact time in the pre-op talk. You usually arrive in the morning; check-in is followed by the anaesthesia talk and marking.
How long does the augmentation take?
Usually about an hour — and as long as it takes to get the result right. Because the operating theatres belong to the centre, there is no time pressure.
Will I have a general anaesthetic?
Yes. Specialist anaesthetists start the anaesthetic and monitor you continuously, including in the recovery room and during the night.
When will I first see my new breasts?
The morning after surgery, when your surgeon opens the bra on the ward round.
Can I have visitors?
Yes, as soon as you have got up for the first time and feel fit enough.
When can I go home?
The next morning between 08:00 and 10:00, after the ward round and breakfast, together with the person accompanying you.
