From booking to the final result
Liposuction at the Kuzbari Centre follows eight steps. All of them take place in the same building — no outside hospital, no unfamiliar staff.
-
Step 1Book and arrive
You book your initial consultation online or by phone. The Kuzbari Centre at Seitzergasse 2-4 in Vienna’s first district is easy to reach on foot, by public transport or by car. At reception we take your details, then you wait in our discreet waiting area.
-
Step 2The initial medical consultation
Your surgeon examines the areas that bother you and tells you honestly what is possible. You see before-and-after photos, learn how your procedure could run in detail and receive a written cost plan — with payment in instalments if you wish. Nobody will talk you into an operation.
-
Liposuction or a lift?
The consultation shows whether fat or excess skin is creating the problem area. The route depends on it.
Often both are combined in one procedure. From here on the route is the same for both.
-
Step 3Pre-operative talk and safety check
Two appointments come before the operation: in the pre-operative talk we go through the exact procedure, risks and aftercare, you receive a checklist and we select your compression garments. At the safety check an anaesthetist explains the anaesthesia, and blood is taken. The results form the basis for clearance to operate.
-
Step 4Arrival on the day of surgery
A registered nurse takes you to the ward and shows you your room, where you change. We measure your blood pressure, pulse and temperature. If you have booked an overnight stay, you choose your dinner and breakfast, delivered by the Park Hyatt.
-
Step 5Marking and photographs
In the recovery room you meet your anaesthetist. Your surgeon marks the areas to be treated and photographs them. This takes about ten minutes — time to go through the procedure calmly once more. Most patients find it reassuring.
-
Step 6The procedure
The procedure takes place in one of our three operating rooms. There is no fixed time: we operate until the result is right. The fat is removed gently through fine cannulas, followed by the fine contouring that decides how harmonious the result is. Finally we fit the compression garment.
-
Step 7Waking up and going home
You recover in the recovery room under supervision. After a day-case procedure you usually go home with a companion two to three hours later. After larger procedures we recommend a night on our ward.
-
Step 8Aftercare until the final result
We schedule your check-ups, monitor healing and can be reached day and night. You wear the compression garment for two to six weeks. After a few weeks you see the first changes; the final result after three to six months, once the skin has adapted to the new shape.
Your result: contours that last
Fat cells that have been removed do not grow back. We accompany you with check-ups until your new silhouette has reached its final shape.
Book a consultationTip: before the consultation, write down your questions and any medication you take regularly.
Preparation
Preparing for liposuction consists of two appointments before the procedure — the pre-operative talk and the safety check with the anaesthetist — and a few things you organise yourself. You receive the full checklist in the pre-operative talk.
- Fill in the health questionnaire completely and honestly — only then can existing conditions be assessed correctly.
- Tell us about all medication you take, especially blood thinners.
- We select your compression garments together; two are included in the price.
- Arrange for someone to accompany you home after a day-case procedure.
- On the day of surgery wear comfortable, loose clothing that fits over the compression garment.
- Plan a few quiet days: desk work is usually possible again after two to four days.
On the day of the operation
On the day of the operation you arrive at the Kuzbari Centre, are admitted on the ward, marked and operated on in one of our own operating theatres. Whether you go home afterwards or stay the night depends on the extent of the procedure.
| Feature | Day case | With overnight stay |
|---|---|---|
| When | Smaller and medium-sized areas | Larger procedures or several areas |
| Anaesthesia | Local anaesthesia, with twilight sedation if you wish | As agreed with the anaesthetist, including general anaesthesia |
| Going home | Usually 2 to 3 hours after the procedure, accompanied | The next morning after the ward round |
| Meals | No meals from the Park Hyatt | Dinner and breakfast from the Park Hyatt |
| Costs | Included in the price of the procedure | Additional night €600, unless already planned in |
Our own operating theatres
Consultation, safety check, operation, overnight stay and all check-ups take place in our building. The Kuzbari Centre has its own operating suite with three operating rooms and its own ward. You are cared for by people you already know.
The time after liposuction
After liposuction you are usually presentable again after about two days, back at your desk after two to four days and back to sport from two weeks, depending on the area. Mild swelling and bruising are normal and subside over the first few weeks.
- Showering and light movement
You can shower after one day. Light movement helps healing; sport does not yet.
- Back to everyday life
After about two days you are presentable; desk work is possible again after two to four days — longer after liposuction of the neck.
- Compression and check-ups
You wear the compression garment day and night. Avoid taking a bath for three weeks.
- Sport again
Depending on the area, sport is possible again from two weeks. Compression ends after two to six weeks.
- The final result
The swelling has gone down and the skin has adapted to the new shape.
In the Aesthetic Insights podcast Dr. Ali Saalabian describes what happens after the “yes” to surgery — from informed consent and the preliminary talk to recovery with early mobilisation and lymphatic drainage.
- The compression garment is crucial for an even result — wear it as agreed.
- Light movement yes, sport not yet: walks support circulation and help reduce swelling.
- Lymphatic drainage, as recommended by your surgeon, helps the swelling go down.
- If you have questions after the procedure, our surgeons can be reached day and night.

Frequently asked questions about the liposuction process
How does liposuction work at the Kuzbari Centre?
The initial consultation is followed by the pre-operative talk and the safety check with the anaesthetist. On the day of surgery you are admitted, marked and operated on in one of our own operating theatres; the fat is removed through fine cannulas. Afterwards you wear compression garments and attend your check-ups.
How long does the procedure take?
There is no fixed time: the duration depends on the extent, and we operate until the result is right. A small area such as the double chin is quicker than 360° liposuction of the abdomen and flanks.
Do I have to stay overnight?
Usually not. After a day-case procedure you generally go home with a companion two to three hours later. After larger procedures we recommend a night on our ward.
What kind of anaesthesia will I have?
Depending on the extent, the procedure is done under local anaesthesia, with twilight sedation if you wish, or under general anaesthesia. The anaesthetist discusses the right option with you at the safety check.
What happens at the safety check?
An anaesthetist explains the anaesthesia and checks your state of health, and blood is taken. The results form the basis for clearance to operate. Because the check takes place before the day of surgery, further tests can be arranged without postponing the operation.
When will I be presentable again?
After about two days, a little later after liposuction of the neck. Desk work is usually possible again after two to four days.
How long do I have to wear compression garments?
Two to six weeks, day and night, depending on the area. Two compression garments are included in the price.
When can I exercise again?
Light movement is encouraged from the start, sport from two weeks, depending on the area. Avoid taking a bath for three weeks; you can shower after one day.
When will I see the final result?
You see the first changes after a few weeks. The final result shows after three to six months, once the swelling has gone down and the skin has adapted to the new shape.
What if excess skin rather than fat is the problem?
Then liposuction alone cannot tighten the skin. In the initial consultation we see whether liposuction is enough, whether a body lift is needed or whether both are combined in one procedure.
How much does the initial consultation cost?
The initial consultation takes about 40 minutes and costs €90. If you decide to go ahead with the operation, the amount is credited in full.
Your consultation
About 40 minutes, an examination of your problem areas, honest advice and a written cost plan. The €90 is credited if you decide to go ahead with the operation.
