Countdown to breast surgery: pre-op talk and safety check
Between the initial consultation and the operation you have two further appointments at the Kuzbari Centre: the pre-op talk with your surgeon and the safety check with a specialist anaesthetist. Both make sure that nothing is left to chance on the day of surgery.
- Information and surgical plan
- Anaesthetic preparation
- Certified implants
- Licensed hospital
- Initial consultation
Wishes, measurements, simulation, cost estimate. Then you decide in your own time.
- Pre-op talk
Surgical plan in detail, information on risks, how to behave before and after, first check-up.
- Safety check
Anaesthesia talk with a specialist anaesthetist, blood test and further tests if needed.
- Operation
Precise preparation for the best result
At the Kuzbari Centre we leave nothing to chance: the best possible results with the greatest possible safety. That is why you see your surgeon once more before the operation — without time pressure and with all the documents.
The pre-op talk
In the pre-op talk your surgeon goes through the surgical plan in detail with you once more. Beforehand you complete the consent form on your state of health — as accurately as possible, so that any existing conditions can be assessed correctly.
- The surgical plan in detail: implant, position, incision.
- Information about the risks of the operation.
- How to behave before surgery, for example stopping certain medication.
- The time after surgery: bra, showering, work, sport.
- The date of the first post-operative check-up.
The safety check
At the safety check a specialist anaesthetist explains the anaesthetic procedure to you and prepares you individually. A blood sample is also taken; the results are the basis for clearing you for surgery.
Recognising conditions relevant to anaesthesia early means further tests can be arranged without postponing the operation. After the appointment you go home or back to work; we answer questions by phone and e-mail right up to the day of surgery.
Should you be afraid of anaesthesia?
Our anaesthetist answers the three most common questions: should you be afraid? How is it ensured that you do not wake up during anaesthesia? And can it happen that you do not wake up afterwards?
Safe implants
The Kuzbari Centre uses only silicone gel implants from renowned manufacturers with EMA and CE marking. The cohesive gel does not leak, and the implants are form-stable yet highly elastic.
A polyurethane coating is usually recommended: a large study by the US Food and Drug Administration with more than 40,000 patients showed that up to one in five women with conventional implants develops capsular contracture. With polyurethane this risk falls from about 20 to around 2 per cent.

Which appointments do I have before surgery?
After the initial consultation, two: the pre-op talk with your surgeon and the safety check with a specialist anaesthetist, including a blood test.
What happens at the safety check?
A specialist anaesthetist explains the anaesthetic, prepares you individually and takes a blood sample. The results are the basis for clearing you for surgery.
How safe is the anaesthetic?
The risk of a serious complication is around 1 in 1,000,000. Our anaesthetists have more than 20 years of experience and monitor you continuously.
What is capsular contracture?
A hardening of the connective tissue that forms around every implant. With polyurethane-coated implants the risk falls to around 2 per cent.
Which implants do you use?
Silicone gel implants from renowned manufacturers with EMA and CE marking, usually anatomically shaped and coated with polyurethane.
Can I go to work after the safety check?
Yes. You can go home or to work afterwards. Until the day of surgery you can reach us by phone and e-mail.
