What thigh liposuction achieves
Thigh liposuction permanently removes the fat on the saddlebags, the inner thighs or all round, and shapes an even leg line — usually as an outpatient procedure under twilight sedation.
Many women gain weight on their thighs first and lose it there last. This fat distribution is often hereditary and cannot be changed with exercise or diet. On the inner thighs in particular it becomes noticeable in daily life when the legs rub together while walking.
A welcome side effect: although liposuction is not a treatment for cellulite, some patients report that it has visibly decreased.
Proportion, not litres
On the legs the overall picture is decisive: thighs, knees, buttocks and hips must suit one another. If fat is removed in only one place, the transition to the neighbouring area can look uneven. That is why we plan the legs standing up and from all sides.
Sometimes less liposuction on the saddlebags and a little of your own fat in the hip dip is the more attractive solution. We discuss what makes sense in your case at the first consultation.

Lipoedema or a lift?
If the legs are painful, sensitive to pressure and bruise easily, lipoedema may be the cause; if it is mainly skin that sags, a thigh lift is needed rather than liposuction alone.
Lipoedema is a disease, not a question of figure: the tissue behaves differently, the amounts are larger and several sessions are often needed. After major weight loss, on the other hand, the skin on the inner thighs is often stretched so much that it no longer contracts.

The process in five steps
Consultation, preparation, surgery and aftercare all take place in the same building. If you wish, surgery can usually take place just a few weeks after the consultation.

- Marking and surgery

- Going home and recovering

Frequently asked questions about thigh liposuction
Is thigh liposuction painful?
The treatment is performed under twilight sedation or local anaesthesia, and there is no pain during the procedure. Afterwards the legs feel like strong muscle soreness for a few days.
What are saddlebags?
Saddlebags are fat deposits on the outer thighs below the hips. They are often hereditary and barely respond to exercise and diet.
How long does the operation take?
That depends on the number of zones; there is no fixed time, we operate until the result is right. Surgery is usually an outpatient procedure; for larger amounts we recommend a night with us.
When can I go back to work?
Desk work is usually possible after two to four days, and most people feel socially presentable after about two days.
When can I exercise again?
Walking is encouraged from the start. You can begin exercising from two weeks, depending on the area and build up gradually.
How long does it take to see the result?
The final result is visible after about three to six months, once the swelling has fully gone down and the tissue has adapted.
Can the fat come back?
The treated fat cells are removed permanently. If you gain weight, the remaining fat cells can increase in volume; a stable weight supports the result.
Does liposuction help with cellulite?
Liposuction is not a treatment for cellulite. Some patients do report, however, that it has visibly decreased after the procedure.
