What abdominal liposuction achieves
Abdominal liposuction removes fat cells that do not respond to diet and training through access points just a few millimetres in size — permanently, because the body no longer forms new fat cells after puberty.
A bit of baby fat, a small tummy above the waistband or a lower abdomen that will not change despite a slim figure: genetics and hormones decide where the body stores fat. That is why some deposits resist every workout. This is exactly where liposuction comes in.
The goal is not a number on the scales but a shape. As Dr. Ali Saalabian puts it: liposuction may not get you to your ideal weight, but it can get you your ideal figure. The remaining fat cells stay evenly distributed so that the abdominal wall looks smooth and natural.
Why exercise alone is not enough
Losing weight shrinks fat cells but does not remove them. When weight returns, the same deposits fill up first — the familiar yo-yo effect. Liposuction permanently reduces the number of fat cells in the treated zone.
A stable weight matters: if you gain a lot of weight after the procedure, the remaining cells can grow. The shape lasts as long as your weight stays roughly the same.
Who abdominal liposuction is suitable for
Ideal candidates have a normal or slightly raised weight, with fat that gathers in particular places. The skin is decisive: it must be able to settle onto the new shape after the fat is removed.
Liposuction or tummy tuck?
If the problem is fat, liposuction is enough; if skin hangs after pregnancy or major weight loss, a tummy tuck is needed, usually combined with liposuction.
At the first consultation we assess whether the abdominal muscles have separated (diastasis recti) and how much skin is left over. Some patients come wanting liposuction and leave with the advice to have a lift — or the other way round.

How the abdomen is treated
First a tumescent solution is introduced, which numbs the tissue and keeps bleeding low. Fine cannulas then loosen and remove the fat. Which technique is added depends on the findings — it is included in the price.

The process in five steps
Consultation, preparation, surgery and aftercare all take place in the same building. If you wish, surgery can usually take place just a few weeks after the consultation.

Analysis of the problem areas, assessment of skin and connective tissue, treatment plan and written quote.
- Pre-op talk and safety check
Surgical plan, instructions, anaesthesia consultation and blood test. The results form the basis for clearance for surgery.
- Marking and surgery
Around ten minutes of marking while standing, then surgery in our own theatre suite – for as long as it takes to get the result right.
- Going home and recovering
Usually home the same day, one night with us after larger procedures. Showering from day one, desk work after two to four days.
- Compression, check-ups, result
Compression garment for two to six weeks, exercise from two weeks, depending on the area. The final result shows after three to six months.
After the operation
The first few days feel like strong muscle soreness. As long as you lie still nothing hurts; movement and touching the treated areas are uncomfortable at first.

- Get up and walk early on; it helps your circulation.

Frequently asked questions about abdominal liposuction
Is abdominal liposuction painful?
The procedure itself is performed under twilight sedation or local anaesthesia and is painless. Afterwards the abdomen feels like strong muscle soreness for a few days, which is easily managed with painkillers.
How long does the operation take?
There is no fixed time: it depends on the amount of fat and whether the flanks are treated too. Because we have our own operating theatres, we operate without time pressure until the result is right.
Do I have to stay overnight at the Kuzbari Centre?
Usually not: liposuction is generally an outpatient procedure. For larger amounts, from around four litres, we recommend a night with us.
When can I go back to work?
Desk work is usually possible after two to four days, and most people feel socially presentable after about two days. The compression garment can be worn under your clothes.
When can I exercise again?
Light activity such as walking is encouraged from the start. You can begin exercising from two weeks, depending on the area and build up gradually.
Will the fat come back?
The fat cells that are removed do not grow back. If you gain a lot of weight, the remaining cells can grow. With a stable weight, the shape lasts.
Will there be scars?
The access points are a few millimetres in size and placed discreetly, for example in the bikini area or at the navel. Once healed they are barely visible.
When will I see the final result?
A change is visible straight away but masked by swelling. The final result shows after three to six months.
Does liposuction also help with loose skin?
With slight excess skin, Renuvion tightens the tissue from within. If skin clearly hangs over, a tummy tuck is the right approach, often combined with liposuction.
