Lines in the regions listed are smoothed by relaxing the muscles of facial expression in a targeted way. For this, particular substances are diluted and injected in a precise dose into the region to be treated. Apart from a few very small puncture marks, which are usually visible for only a few minutes, the treatment leaves no further traces.

Through the relaxation of the muscles the lines smooth out or disappear altogether. Sensation, however, is not impaired.

The substances used were employed for the first time more than 30 years ago for purely medical purposes, to treat spasms in the face.
