So-called hooded eyelids can make us look tired and old without our being so. The overall impression, and often the first impression too, suffers from the excess skin on the upper eyelid, which can fold down over the lashes. No matter how many tricks and creams are used, once hooded eyelids are there they unfortunately do not disappear again. Self-confidence suffers, and sometimes the field of vision of those affected is even impaired. Hooded eyelids can be corrected with a tiny surgical procedure, and those affected regain their lively and fresh appearance.

A fresher appearance after the hooded eyelid correction

Hooded eyelids are among the typical signs of ageing; in some people they appear earlier and in others later. Most patients are over forty years old when they decide on a hooded eyelid correction. 3. Safety check

4. Hooded eyelid operation

The procedure begins before the operation: namely when our doctors mark up your upper eyelids in a sitting position. Yes, sitting, because the result is then better, since in this way they mark up your upper eyelids under the influence of gravity. That takes approx. 10 to 15 minutes. We use this time to explain the course of the procedure to you precisely once more while it happens, so that you know what happens, when and where.

In the hooded eyelid correction the excess skin, the protruding fat and possibly also slackened muscle tissue are removed. The correction is carried out with us as an outpatient procedure. During the procedure the region is anaesthetised locally; a precisely placed incision then follows in the natural eyelid crease and – depending on the extent of the slackened skin – also beyond the outer corner of the eye. Through this access excess skin, slackened muscle and bulging fatty tissue are removed to a precisely defined extent. 5. The result

After the procedure physical exertion should be avoided. Cooling the eyes eases the swelling. After approx. 2 to 3 weeks you are already socially presentable again and only a fine scar can be seen in the natural eye crease, which usually becomes invisible with time.

Why correct hooded eyelids?

The eyes are a particularly striking feature in a person’s face. They can often be decisive for the overall impression and make us look either tired and drained or fresh and full of energy. An open gaze gives us a special presence which can be of enormous importance not only in everyday life but also at work. Many women and men lose this presence with age, when the tissue in the upper eyelid area slackens and hooded eyelids form. The day of the operation

The correction can be carried out as an outpatient procedure; the region is anaesthetised locally. A precise incision in the natural eyelid crease will barely be visible soon after the operation. Directly after the procedure exertion should be avoided; after two to three weeks you are fully socially presentable again. The people around you will notice your youthful, fresher appearance, but usually not that you have had an operation.

The result of the eyelid lift is a fresh and younger appearance. It shows itself after about 2-3 months. With the right surgical technique the natural shape of the eye is preserved.
