Pregnancy after a breast augmentation
The female breast is very susceptible to hormonal changes. Whether puberty, pregnancy or breastfeeding – the size and shape of the breast is not set in stone. This is precisely why many women fear that the result of their breast augmentation could be affected by a pregnancy.

In most cases this worry, like the one about breastfeeding with a breast implant – is completely unfounded. How an augmented breast looks after a pregnancy, however, depends on so many factors that in the end it cannot be predicted.
How long should I wait after the operation before becoming pregnant?
After a breast augmentation, the breast needs up to 12 months to reach its final shape. Ideally you wait for this healing phase before a possible pregnancy occurs. Of course, if the time comes earlier, that is not a problem either. What happens to the breast implants during pregnancy? Nothing. They stay in their place and do their part. Naturally, a woman's normal breast tissue changes during this time, so that the breast increases in size overall.
It should also be borne in mind here that the shape of the breasts can change considerably in a natural way during pregnancy and breastfeeding. While the implant continues to give the breast volume in the right place, the breast may nevertheless look noticeably different after a pregnancy than it did before.
Can I breastfeed with breast implants?
As a rule, and with the surgical techniques used today, breastfeeding after a breast operation is absolutely no problem. In the course of a breast augmentation, most implants are inserted under the pectoral muscle through an incision in the lower breast fold. With this method the operation has no influence on the ability to breastfeed, because the breast tissue is not touched at all.
