Reclaiming your figure after the holidays
With Dr. Ali Saalabian the Kuzbari Centre has an expert when it comes to a slim and well-shaped body.

The Christmas season is over and at this time of year many people decide to do their body some good with a “detox programme” and at the same time want to declare war on the excess Christmas kilos.
Exercise, too, is helpful during this phase in order to speed up the process of detoxification and above all of slimming down.
But sometimes the desired success fails to materialise and frustration sets in instead.
This lack of motivation is not necessary, however: Dr. Saalabian then recommends the Cool Sculpting method to his patients for diet-resistant fat deposits. A non-invasive procedure from the USA in which the fat cells are literally frozen away by means of cryolipolysis.
“This is a very effective lunch-break treatment and can achieve a clearly noticeable slimming effect on the most varied problem areas such as the abdomen, the legs, the buttocks and, most recently, even on areas of the face (with a double chin)”, and entirely without side effects and downtime.
For stubborn local fat deposits, Dr. Saalabian advises an invasive procedure, a liposuction – but only for those who are in good health and not too severely overweight.
“Liposuction is a method that has proven itself over many years, achieves lasting results and can be used in many regions. Unfortunately, however, not everyone is suitable for this method”, says Dr. Saalabian.
“In some cases we recommend postponing a liposuction until the patients have lost weight or until existing illnesses have been treated. It is important here that we coordinate with their general practitioners or internists and recommend steps to them in order to optimise their state of health for the procedure.”
Sometimes Dr. Saalabian also has to advise against liposuction, for example when the elasticity of the skin is not sufficient. “For this reason, during the initial consultation we analyse whether the skin of my patients is suitable for liposuction or whether a skin tightening is necessary in order to achieve the desired result”, explains Dr. Ali Saalabian.
Besides the regions of the face such as the cheeks, the chin and the neck, the areas of application for liposuction are the upper arms the chest area, the back as well as the upper abdomen and the waist. In the lower part of the body, the hips, saddlebags on the thighs, the insides of the knees as well as ankles and calves are particularly suitable for liposuction.
A change of diet, exercise and discipline bear fruit – you fit comfortably into your favourite jeans again, which had become too tight, and the needle on the scales has moved noticeably downwards. The excess kilos may be gone, but it often takes a very long time for the excess skin to recede completely, and in some cases, because the loss of skin elasticity is too great, it does not recede at all.
Here, too, the Kuzbari Centre with Dr. Saalabian offers its patients a remedy. In a body lift, excess, slackened tissue is removed and the skin is tightened. It is usually carried out in combination with a liposuction in order to improve the contours of the body. On the abdomen in particular it makes sense to tighten the abdominal wall muscles at the same time in order to emphasise the silhouette of the body.
“Our aim in this is always the long-lasting restoration of the outward appearance and a natural-looking, firm result”, says Dr. Saalabian.
After pregnancies in particular, many women want a slim waist and a firm abdomen back again. It is good to know that Dr. Saalabian, as a reconstructive surgeon, has extensive experience in restoring the muscles of the abdominal wall. He has developed new surgical methods for the treatment of large abdominal wall hernias and is regarded as one of the European specialists in this field.
