Do breast implants have to be exchanged?
In general there is no recommendation that the implants used at the Kuzbari Centre have to be exchanged or removed – neither from us nor from the manufacturer. Nevertheless there are always patients who decide, years after a breast augmentation, to have the implants removed again.

In principle implants never have to be removed
The reasons for this vary, but mostly it has to do with the fact that these patients are in – as they put it – a different stage of life in which breast implants no longer have a place for them. Some patients also no longer want the large breast. In others the wish for children has been fulfilled and the breasts now droop. Whatever the reasons for wanting the implants removed may be, removing the implants is no problem at all.
Implant exchange – what reasons are there for it
There are reasons for an implant exchange too. These also vary. If an implant is damaged, for example, it should be exchanged promptly. Capsular contracture - the breast becomes harder, can become deformed and painful – is also a not infrequent indication for a surgical procedure. Dissatisfaction with the size can of course also be the trigger for a further operation – that, incidentally, is one of the most common reasons for an implant exchange.
Through weight gain or hormonal changes such as a pregnancy or the onset of the menopause, it may well be that changes in the shape of the breast lead to a corrective procedure. In general, then, an implant exchange can become necessary in rare cases. Here we use specially coated implants to ensure that their slipping and the likelihood of capsular contracture are reduced to a minimum.
