Breast augmentation: why breasts feel natural despite an implant
Not infrequently doctors hear the worries of patients that their breasts might no longer feel natural after an augmentation. Having something ‘foreign’ in their own body is a strange idea for many, and they fear that outsiders too could notice the implants immediately. If you place yourself in the experienced hands of a practised breast surgeon, however, this fear is completely unfounded. In this article we explain what matters and when operated breasts also feel natural.

A breast that has been done should not be recognisable immediately, either at first glance or at a first touch. For this there are a number of aspects that have to be taken into account in the course of the breast augmentation. Your treating doctor, Dr. Andreas Dobrovits or Dr. René Draxler, will discuss all these aspects with you and find the perfect implant and the perfect implant position for you and your body. So that your new breasts are as though made for you – completely aesthetic, as if they had always been there.
The right implant as a naturalness factor
What many patients do not know at all before their initial consultation is that there are countless different implant sizes and shapes. Making the right choice here is the decisive factor for a natural result. In the consultation the body shape, size and proportions of the patient are gone into precisely, as are her wishes regarding shape, in order to find the individually suitable implant. The projection, that is, the ‘height’ of the implant, is a particularly decisive factor here too. This is also important in order to guarantee a realistic expectation of the result of the breast augmentation.
Above or below the pectoral muscle – which looks more natural?
In the course of the breast augmentation an implant can be placed either above or below the pectoral muscle. The pectoral muscle itself is not part of the female breast. Placing the implant above the muscle is recommended only in rather rare cases. In general the more natural variant is always below the pectoral muscle. If the perfectly fitting implant has been chosen, then after the healing phase, and placed below the muscle, it will be neither palpable nor recognisable. Thus a natural-looking breast is the result.
