Breast lift
Interview with our specialist Dr. Dobrovits

Dr. Andreas Dobrovits is the expert at the Kuzbari Centre when it comes to surgical procedures on the breast. In today's blog post he explains the subject of the breast lift:
What exactly is a breast lift?
With a Breast lift involves raising the glandular tissue and/or the areola - the breast is thus lifted back to the place where it once was.
How does a breast lift procedure work?
If there is sufficient mammary gland tissue and there is no wish for enlargement, the glandular tissue can be divided, positioned accordingly and sutured again using special surgical techniques.
Two important results can thus be achieved:
Firstly, the breast sits in its original position again.
Secondly, the result looks natural in this way and, above all, the upper part of the breast appears somewhat fuller again.
The disadvantage of this mostly time-consuming technique are the scars that are often necessary around the areola and below it in the shape of an inverted T.
Can a small bust be lifted as well?
If there is not sufficient glandular tissue and/or there is a wish for enlargement, a combination of two techniques is used:
First the breast is enlarged by means of a breast implant. It is then lifted over the implant and thus raised to the correct position.
As a rule, a scar around the areola is to be expected, as well as possibly a vertical scar beneath it.
The reason why fewer scars result from a lift with an implant is that less skin has to be removed because of the increase in volume!
Are scars visible after a breast lift?
Even though it is the aim of every plastic surgeon to produce as few scars as possible, one of the most important rules in aesthetic breast surgery is: a beautiful shape takes precedence over the scars!
Who else is a breast lift suitable for?
Many patients have a slight asymmetry of the breasts. This can be evened out in the course of the Breast lift by removing glandular tissue from the larger side.
In selected cases, asymmetrically sized breast implants are also used for a lift with a wish for enlargement.
Although the correction of the asymmetry is usually not the reason for the operation, one of our surgical aims is nevertheless 'to turn the sisters into twins'. The prerequisite for this, however, is that the patient wishes it!
How long does the operation take?
With both procedures, the duration of the operation - depending on the size of the breast and the respective anatomical conditions - is between 2.5 and 4.5 hours.
Time, however, plays a subordinate role; the final result has to be perfect!
What does a breast lift cost?
The costs for the procedure are as a rule between 6000 and 8000 euros.
