The weeks before a rhinoplasty
For months one's thoughts have revolved around nothing but the subject and one eagerly awaits the day of the rhinoplasty. Nevertheless there are a few things patients should observe in preparation for their operation. In conversation your treating doctor Dr. Kuzbari or Dr. Grill will go through all the details. Here are a few general key points that are important in the weeks before a surgical rhinoplasty.

6 weeks before the rhinoplasty
As before every surgical procedure, it is recommended that you stop smoking before a rhinoplasty too, because smoking has a negative influence on wound healing. In smokers wounds heal more slowly and the formation of scars can thereby be delayed and become less attractive.
10 days before the day of the operation
Certain medications have to be discontinued 10 days before the nasal operation. These include preparations such as aspirin, which inhibit blood clotting. It is important, however, not to discontinue prescribed medication on your own initiative, and some medications should be paused even earlier. Your surgeon will go through more precise information about individual medications and when they should be discontinued in the consultation. During this time alcohol should also be avoided.
48 hours before the nasal operation
It is important that patients take it easy before the rhinoplasty and are healthy and fit at the time of the operation. There must be no impairment of the airways, such as infections or ‘colds’.
On the day of your operation you come to us at the Kuzbari Centre. Dr. Kuzbari and Dr. Grill visit you before the start of the operation and go through the course of the operation with you once again. Our anaesthetist also discusses the course of the anaesthetic and the most important points with you.
