Breast surgery in summer
A breast augmentation is possible at any time of year. Nevertheless, there are a few points to bear in mind with an operation in the summer months. Swimming and sun are not the best friends of smooth wound healing, so be sure to discuss your holiday plans with the surgeon treating you. Then nothing stands in the way of breast surgery in summer either.

Swimming after a breast augmentation
Summer is holiday time – so it is of course an important matter to clarify possible holidays in advance of the operation. Heat in itself is no cause for concern, as there is no evidence that the wound healing process is disturbed by it. But unfortunately you have to be careful with swimming after a breast augmentation. Swimming in fresh water is permitted after 4 weeks, swimming in salt water or chlorinated water after 6 weeks. In addition, the wet bikini should be exchanged for a dry one as soon as possible so that the scar is not softened unnecessarily. A bikini over the scar is, however, obligatory, because the scar after breast surgery should be completely protected from sunlight for at least 1 year.
Sun after breast surgery
In general, you should protect your skin from UV radiation all year round. In the summer months, and if you have fresh scars, this is twice as important. While we all know that unprotected sunbathing can lead to premature skin ageing, fine lines and even skin cancer, the effects on wound healing are not known to everyone. This is because fresh scars are particularly prone to hyperpigmentation; under sunlight they can discolour unattractively and remain visible for longer or more strongly. Scars are therefore best protected from the sun with a sunblock and clothing. Only after wound healing has ended, when the scar has faded and is no longer reddened, is sunbathing possible without risk again.
