7 skin care tips for your holiday
The right skincare for restful hours in the sun!

The holiday season is approaching and we are already beginning the first preparations for the well-earned days by the sea, by the lake or in other sunny places.
So that you can also enjoy this time to the full and return rested, healthy and tanned, here are a few tips from our dermatologist Dr. Elke Janig:
High UVA and UVB sun protection factor
The most important thing on a summer holiday by the sea, by the lake or in the mountains is a high level of sun protection. At least SPF 50 with a UVA and UVB filter!
It is important to apply it to the face and body in the morning so that you are protected throughout the day.
The skin on the face, the neck and the décolletage in particular is very sensitive and sensitive to light. Under certain circumstances, unsightly pigmentation shifts can occur here, above all with:
a genetic disposition as well as when taking various medicines, and also hormones containing oestrogen such as the pill.
Protection from within
With the right diet, sun protection can be built up from within. Fruit and vegetables containing vitamin A, such as carrots, apricots and melons, are recommended here.
Tomatoes too can protect the skin from solar radiation in a natural way, because they contain lycopene, vitamin C and selenium.
Avoid the midday heat
The midday sun between 12:00 and 15:00 should be avoided as a matter of principle. During this time the sun is particularly aggressive.
If this cannot be avoided, a high sun protection factor of SPF 50, a sun hat and sufficient fluids are absolutely essential!
Skin care after sunbathing
After a long day in the sun your skin is quite stressed. Care afterwards with a rich after-sun moisturising lotion, ideally with the plant-based active ingredient aloe vera, provides moisture, soothes and cools at the same time.
Treating sunburn correctly
If you do forget to reapply cream regularly, a cortisone cream helps with slight burns. It can also be helpful with jellyfish stings - but please use it only over a short period!
For a restful sleep
So that your night's rest is not disturbed by annoying insect bites and itching, I recommend an insect spray with the active ingredients DEET and permethrin.
In the event of injuries
For minor grazes, burns etc. it is always advisable to have a wound and healing ointment with you in your travel first-aid kit.
I wish you wonderful holidays and if you still have questions on the subject, I am also happy to be there for you personally!
Kind regards, Dr. Elke Janig
